021 – Sacre Noir Summer Tour (Day Twenty Eight / Gig 10)

Posted: September 8, 2011 in Uncategorized

Friday 2nd September 2011, Edinburgh

After less than 24hrs in London we’re on our way home…
It’s a beautiful day (26 degrees +) and we’re sad to be leaving London again, but will def be back to play more gigs very soon!
The train leaves King’s Cross at 2pm but by 3.30pm we’ve hit a major delay.
“Due to multiple line-side fires we are unable to move forward at this time”
These fires were caused by sparks from a steam train and in fact we were delayed by 2 and a half hours. We had arranged to arrive in Edinburgh for 6.30pm, leaving us plenty of time to set up the PA etc and do some last minute promotion, but we actually arrived just after 9pm and that’s when the event was scheduled to start. We get all our bags into the venue, clear the space at the back of the bar, set up and Tom Ski is DJing just after half past 9, kick starting the night in style.
Better late than never. It’s been ages since I last saw Tom DJ, but he never fails to pull out a fine selection of funky grooves and old skool classics. He also plays with Edinburgh based Surf/Punk/Blues trio Fitzroy Soul. You can catch them live @ Henry’s Celler Bar on Friday 9th September (after 11pm).

After Tom’s set, it’s the turn of Caroline Barid aka Forward Play to spin some tunes. The first Forward Play album ‘Stop Repeat’ was released last year (2010). Having received great reviews she heads off to sunnier climes & spent the second half of 2010 writing in Ibiza, then returned to her native Edinburgh just in time for winter at the end of the year and is currently continuing work on her second release – The Culture Of Secrets.

Then at 11.30pm it was time to play our final live show of the tour. It was great to have Phil back on guitar and to be in a familiar place with friendly faces all around us. It was a great show and I don’t think we could have asked for a nicer response for the homecoming gig. The night is completed with a little DJ set (Sacre Noir vs. Savage Sound System) and the hit of the night – Groove Armada ‘Super Styling’.
Just goes to show if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

We arrive home around 2am and it’s a really strange feeling.
We’ve had the best time during the past few weeks and will be getting back to work on Monday booking more shows and making contacts for the next trip.

Til the next time – keep on keeping on!
