098: 2016 part 1 (gigs and more)

Posted: June 29, 2016 in Uncategorized

We spent the first three months of 2016 completing the writting process for the 3rd LP.

Supporting The Courtesans at Bannerman’s Bar, Edinburgh
First gig of 2016 and what a cracking night it was. The fantastic Courtesans headlined with further support from Twin Heart and Spectacular Primate Disaster.

“In a world full of bankers, hipsters, ninjas and politicians Courtesans are the equivalent of suicidal unicorns on smack, they are the jelly babies full of boiled bovine bones that children devour joyfully, they are the duck down you sleep on providing comfort that turns into memories of the last minute its original owner was alive. Courtesans

Castle FM – Voice of Scotland, The Unsigned Sessions, Banshee Labyrinth, Edinburgh
Voice of Scotland Unsigned Session included live performances and interview sections. It was recorded by and broadcast on Voice of Scotland / Castle FM Scotland and you can LISTEN AGAIN here.

We discovered 3 great new acts that nights too; Hugh Kelly (singer-songwriter based in Edinburgh with a fantastic blues voice), Publisher (electro-solo act) and Sliver Coast (Inverness based 4-piece rock band),
The night was great! A huge thanks to Neil for inviting us along to take part.

Supporting 9Bach at La Belle Angele, Edinburgh
We were super excited to be supporting the superb 9Bach as part of their tour alongside local act Twelfth Day.
9Bach are an alternative folk group formed by Welsh singer-songwriter and pianist Lisa Jen and guitarist Martin Hoyland (of 1990s alt-rock band Pusherman). Lisa’s story-telling was beautiful on the night and explaining the meaning & thought process behind their music I felt she really brought the audience into their world.
I was left feeling musically and artistically inspired.

We are huge fans of the venue La Belle Angele (pleased to see it re-open after such a long time away & of course please to play in the space where we filmed the Listen To Me music video).
The sound was great!
The staff were lovely!
The other acts were superbly talented and it was an honour to be invited along to support such original talent.
